TUSCAN VILLA FIRE LOSS REBUILD
After losing their original ranch style home to wildfire, these clients realized they had an opportunity to build their dream home. The entire family had input on the final product, a Tuscan-style farmhouse located in Mission Canyon. Produced on a limited budget, the home is small, yet elegant. Marble floors throughout the downstairs, carved cedar corbels and columns from a 200-year-old Pakistani mosque, and a large pizza oven in the dining room are some of its unique features. Green elements include energy-efficient windows, a high-efficiency furnace, a tight exterior shell, and no air conditioning.
To meet the client’s goal of making this home as fire-resistant as possible, every effort was made to eliminate any “weak links”—such as exposed wood on the exterior and potential ember entry points—that would make the home susceptible to burning embers should another wildfire occur.
